A school festival attended by over 1,300 people in the old indoor pool in Feldkirch in Vorarlberg was officially dissolved on Saturday night. The event had been contaminated with irritant gas for reasons that are still unknown. According to the police, several people complained regarding complaints, but did not have to go to the hospital for treatment.

A police patrol had been deployed around 1 a.m. because amphetamines had allegedly been found on a guest. When officers got there, they were met by several people who said pepper spray was believed to have been used in the building. Since mass panic was feared, a large-scale operation was triggered, which meant that 14 police officers with five vehicles, 40 people and five vehicles from the Feldkirch fire brigade, 40 people and 13 vehicles from the rescue service and, among other things, the state chemist were at the scene.

According to the police report, 13 people suffered from the tear gas, but were only slightly injured. The fire brigade did not have to take any action because of the irritant gas, as the gas had apparently evaporated by itself. The cause of the contamination might not be determined. The operation lasted almost two hours.
