Lately, many people have been suffering from blood clots, but fortunately what we drink is an important part of our diet.
And while energy drinks can induce harmful clots within one hour of consuming them, other options prevent the jelly-like clumps.
But there is a drink that can reduce the risks that is already in every home, and that is “water”.
Dr. Sunny Patel, an internal medicine doctor in London, said that water can reduce the risk of thrombosis by improving blood circulation, thinning the blood and preventing dehydration, according to the British newspaper “Express”.
He continued, “Drinking enough water also helps maintain proper blood volume and promotes blood circulation.”
He added, “Adequate hydration ensures blood flows smoothly through the blood vessels, which reduces the chances of clot formation, and also helps to reduce the concentration of certain components in the blood, such as fibrinogen and platelets, which are involved in the formation of a blood clot.”
“Adequate hydration keeps these components at optimal levels, which reduces the likelihood of clotting,” he explained. “On the flip side, dehydration makes your blood thicker and more prone to clotting.”
In addition, adequate water intake supports proper kidney function, allowing it to filter waste and toxins from your blood.”
“This helps maintain a healthy blood composition and reduces the risk of clot formation,” said Dr. Patel.
The doctor shared that factors such as age, gender, body composition, activity level, climate and general health play a role in hydration.
