And the Mufti said – in a statement he issued today – “He supports this initiative and the Council of Prayers for the Prophet (PBUH) will be held following Friday prayers in the Al-Futuh Mosque, which is one of the largest mosques in India, stressing that praying for the Prophet (PBUH) has many virtues that the Qur’an and Sunnah brought and unanimously agreed upon.” The Companions and the Followers and those following them from the predecessors and the successors, so none would contradict it except those in whose hearts there is weakness in their faith or who do not know the value of this Prophet (PBUH), because praying for the Prophet (PBUH) is a divine command mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, so God Almighty addressed the believers in His Wise Book to urge them On praying for the Prophet (PBUH), and the Almighty said: “Indeed, God and His angels pray for the Prophet, O you who believe, pray for him and greet him with peace.”
He explained that the nation’s scholars have compiled many books on the virtue of praying for the Prophet (PBUH) in group and individual, publicly and secretly, and it has been reported that it is a cure for many of our worries and anxieties, and the dissolution of anguish and adversity.
He referred to the saying of Imam Al-Shafi’i that it is desirable to pray more for the Prophet (PBUH) every day, and the desirability increases more on Friday and its night.. explaining that the texts are the best witness to the virtue of praying for the Prophet (PBUH) absolutely, collectively and individually, in public and in secret.
The Mufti praised the invitation of the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf to pray for the Prophet (PBUH) following the Friday prayer. He added, “Such a decision by the ministry, if anything, indicates the extent of their love for the Prophet (PBUH) and their adherence to the approach of the righteous predecessors who taught us this true religion.” As it is, may God reward them with the best reward for this praiseworthy initiative.
