The Las Vegas Raiders signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday to a three-year, $67.5 million deal, $34 million of which is guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Garoppolo will meet once more with coach Josh McDaniels, who joined the Raiders last season and shared with the quarterback as offensive coordinator at the New England Patriots.
Garoppolo spent the last six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, who he finished with a 67.6% passing completion rate, 82 touchdowns, 42 interceptions and 13,599 passing yards. On the ground he barely added 7 touchdowns, showing that his talent is basically in his aerial attack.
The quarterback finished last season with a 67.2% pass completion rate for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 11 appearances. He began the season as San Francisco’s No. 2 quarterback behind Trey Lance, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 that sidelined him for the season.
The two-time Super Bowl winner also received interest from the Houston Texans and New York Jets, however the Raiders’ offer was the best of all.
Garoppolo will replace Derek Carr, who was left out of the Raiders’ plans and signed with the New Orleans Saints for $150 million.
