In 1994, the already slightly deviant Bungie released Marathon on Mac only. It was a DOOM-like, but with a scenario, something really original for the time. The following year came out Marathon 2: DurandalThen Marathon Infinity in 1996. Almost three decades later, the team behind Destiny has just announced the great return of the license on consoles, but unfortunately for us, also on PC. On the other hand, exit the originality, since we will be on an extraction game, just to do like all the little friends Tarkov, The Cycle, CoD DMZ, Hyena and many others.
Nevertheless, we cannot deny that they know how to make beautiful cutscenes. Let’s hope they put as much effort into creating an interesting game, or at least a bit more than Destiny 2. For now, not much information has really leaked out, despite the release of another video in which they poke fun at how they have done an exceptional job at all levels, and how Marathon is going to be amazing. Instead, see (and put on glasses just in case):
We can still be reassured on one point, the artistic direction already seems a little more inspired than the studio’s previous games.
For the moment, Marathon has no release date, but the developers promise us gameplay videos soon. If you want to know more, you can always dig a little on Bungie’s official sitein case we missed something.
