The decision of the state party leadership of the FPÖ should also be made in the evening. The working agreement for the next five years, the division of departments and the new team of the first black-blue state government in the state will be presented on Friday at 10 a.m.
As expected, the decision of the ÖVP officials was unanimous following a presentation of the negotiation result. The FPÖ state party leadership only met at around 7.30 p.m., approval of the coalition pact is considered a formality.
Most of the talks on the content of the new government program were concluded last week, and the last few open questions have been clarified in the past few days. According to reports, there have been no major differences between the parties in the last three weeks. It is eagerly awaited whether – and if so how – the processing of the Corona crisis will be cancelled. A point that was very important to the FPÖ before the election.
Resorts: No surprises to be expected
This week it was still regarding the division of departments. But don’t expect too many surprises here. Haslauer had already emphasized in advance that the ÖVP wanted to keep “their” departments. It is considered unlikely that one of the key departments will move to the Freedom Party. With a few exceptions, the FPÖ should fall to those areas that have become “free” due to the departure of the Greens and NEOS from the state government.
It was already clear at the beginning of the coalition talks that the ÖVP would provide four of the seven members of the government in Salzburg, and the FPÖ three. And the heads are also de facto fixed: in addition to Governor Wilfried Haslauer, the ÖVP continues to provide the provincial councilors Daniela Gutschi, Stefan Schnöll and Josef Schwaiger. State party leader Marlene Svazek, Radstadt mayor Christian Pewny and Martin Zauner, former party secretary to Salzburg’s ex-FPÖ boss Karl Schnell and most recently head of customer service at Salzburg AG, are to move into the government for the FPÖ.
Hearing before government members are sworn in
All new members of the government must undergo a mandatory hearing in the state parliament on June 12 before being elected and sworn in at the state parliament session on June 14. Unlike following previous state elections, the new state government is facing protests for the first time. A large demonstration once morest black and blue has been announced in the state capital on Whit Monday. On June 14th there will also be a public funeral procession followed by a funeral meal.
The state of Salzburg has probably already reacted for fear of disruptive actions: Access to tomorrow’s press conference is only possible with registration and proof of identity.
