Yesterday we learned that the project for the new metro line in Brussels, the famous “metro 3”, had been put on hold due to significant additional costs. The feasibility of the file is questioned.
For David Leisterh, head of the MR group in the Brussels parliament, guest of Matin Première on RTBF this Wednesday, there is no question of abandoning the project. “It’s not an option,” he denounces. “In Brussels, it is the only structuring project”. According to him, the Reform Movement would be the last party to support this new metro line.
”It’s quite scandalous when you see that some say ‘There is no more money’. This is only the admission of the incompetence of the Brussels government”, he criticizes once more. For David Leisterh, we must assume this file. “It is in crises that we recognize the real project managers. There are, of course, ways to finance these budgetary excesses,” he says.
The guest affirms that Sven Gatz, Brussels Minister of Finance and Budget, is in particular in the process of negotiating with the European bank to benefit from a budgetary extension. “This is what has been done in particular in Madrid, Paris or even Copenhagen”, he points out. Another option put forward by David Leisterh would be to turn to the private sector.
