The military administration in Kiev announced, at dawn on Thursday, the activation of the state of air alert, following sirens sounded warning of Russian air strikes.
A Sky News Arabia correspondent reported that sirens sounded in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
And the Ukrainian authorities warned of the danger of an attack by Russian drones on Kiev, calling on the residents of the capital to stay in shelters until the alert ends.
In addition to Kiev, sirens sounded in Mykolaiv and Kherson as well.
The activation of the state of air alert came hours following the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the crew of the ship “Ivan Khors” of the Black Sea Fleet had succeeded in repelling a Ukrainian attack with drone boats in the Bosphorus Strait region within Turkey’s exclusive economic zone.
The attack took place, according to Moscow, when the Russian ship was “carrying out tasks aimed at ensuring the safe operation of the Turkish gas pipelines, Turkish Stream and Blue Stream,” which export Russian gas to Turkey.
In its statement, the ministry indicated that the Russian forces had strengthened their measures to protect energy facilities and supply lines in the wake of the attack on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines last September.
The Russian ministry said that “all enemy boats were destroyed by regular fire emanating from a Russian ship 140 km northeast of the Bosphorus Strait.”
