ABU DHABI, 24th May, 2018 (WAM) — Caracal, the leading manufacturer of small arms and part of the Edge Group, today announced the signing of an agreement with Ketech Asia, a leading manufacturer of ammunition and light weapons solutions, to produce the CAR 816 rifle and resell it in Malaysia.
The agreement was signed by Hamad Al-Amri, CEO of Caracal, and Muhammed Nahar Muhammed Nasir, CEO of Ketech Asia, at the Langkawi International Aeronautics and Space Exhibition (LIMA 2023), which is being held in Langkawi, Malaysia until May 27.
Under the agreement, the two companies will transfer technology that will enable Ketech Asia to assemble the highly reliable and proven CAR 816 tactical assault rifle at its new facility in Pahang, in support of the requirements of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces.
The collaboration will also take place to explore the possibility of joint development of new firearms. Ketech Asia will also become an official distributor for the rifle, underscoring Edge’s confidence in developing valuable and mutually beneficial manufacturing partnerships in Malaysia, with the aim of increasing its sales of advanced regionally made products and solutions in Southeast Asian markets.
The agreement with Ketech will also enhance opportunities for EDGE to explore other opportunities in Malaysia, particularly the full range of Caracal Light Weapons.
