Sergei Shelgunov is an atypical star of Yeralash. He made his debut in the film magazine quite late – at the age of 14, and in some episodes he was shot at all when he was already 18.
Sergey played diverse characters – from a biker to a nerd. But best of all, he succeeded in the role of hooligans, klutz, who mocked the younger ones. Shelgunov was always very artistic and differed noticeably from his younger colleagues in height, so it was not difficult to remember him.
It seemed that following such a bright debut, a talented actor was waiting for a bright career. However, unfortunately, Sergei did not work out either with the theater or with the cinema. During perestroika, he starred in three little-known films – “The Steppe Squadron”, “Dangerous Prize” and “Five Kidnapped Monks”, and then disappeared from view.
Sergei remained in the shadows for several years, until, finally, in the late 2010s, journalists still did not find him in Moscow. The former actor refused to communicate with the press, but his wife, Yana, whom Sergei had known since childhood, agreed.
“Sympathy did not arise immediately. At first they were just friends, and when Seryozha was drafted into the army, he said: “Be my wife!” I agreed. The son is already an adult – Yaroslav is 20 years old, ”said Yana Shelgunova in 2019.
Sergei’s wife admitted that in the 90s there were few film work – there were almost no offers for filming. Therefore, Shelgunov changed his profession and began to work with his hands: “Seryozha used to work as a furniture assembler, now he is a roofer,” Yana said.
Despite this, the former actor is still recognized on the streets. True, popularity eventually began to weigh him down, and now it completely infuriates Shelgunov.
“The husband is still recognized, and he doesn’t really like it. He is walking down the street, and suddenly someone points his finger: “Look, Yeralash!” Or he sits in a cafe, and they get him. Yes, when you are small, such attention pleases, but now it’s gone, ”said the actor’s wife.
However, at the same time, Sergei still wanted his son to follow in his footsteps and become an actor.
“When I was eight years old, my mom and dad suggested: “Do you want to try yourself at a casting? Refused. I was then terribly shy and closed, ”admitted Yaroslav Shelgunov. “How to work on camera with such a character? But now he overcame his complexes. I like the stage, I do vocals. Probably, dad got the ability to move well in front of the public. I am very proud of them! I am surprised when someone says that he is not talented. If so, why is he still remembered?
Now Sergey Shelgunov is 53 years old. He lives a simple family life and eschews increased attention.
It is not known whether the actor regrets that his fate turned out that way. To any questions from journalists regarding his life, he always answers very succinctly: “I’m alive and well, everything is fine.”
