Super Mario Bros. The Film continues to break records at the worldwide box office and is now the third biggest animated film in history.
According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, the adaptation of Illumination and Nintendo grossed US$ 1.248 billion (~R$ 6.02 billion) worldwide, knocking “The Incredibles 2” out of third place with $1.243 billion.

According to The Numbers website, which gathers information on ticket sales, only Disney’s Frozen 2 ($1.284 billion) and Frozen ($1.452 billion) grossed more than Super Mario Bros. The film.

According to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, the film had a positive effect on the company’s business, bringing a significant increase in sales of Mario products and activity for its games.
