After “Our Worst Neighbors,” Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne reunite for “Platonic,” an AppleTV+ series that features a platonic friendship between two longtime friends.
In the comedy Our worst neighbors and its sequel, they formed a couple united once morest all odds in the neighborhood war which pits them once morest a university fraternity. Here they are back, but in a completely different configuration, since it is this time in the skin of longtime friends that Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne return to us, on view this week in the Platonic series on AppleTV + .
This new anthology proposes to follow each season the story of a couple of adults united by a platonic friendship. This first season therefore stages the friendship between a man and a woman, whose reunion following several years of distance plunges them back into their past to try to understand the reasons for their “separation” (friendly of course).
This is the premise of this production co-created by Nicholas Stoller, a specialist in American comedy revealed like Seth Rogen as screenwriter of the cult sitcom The Campus Years, and Francesca Delbanco, creator of the Netflix series Friends from College. A story that cannot be described as autobiographical, the two screenwriters being married and parents of three children!
Revealed by the series Freaks & Geeks and The Campus Years in the early 2000s before becoming one of the spearheads of the Judd Apatow stable, Seth Rogen signs a flamboyant return to the world of television, started year spent with the mini-series Pam & Tommy. The latter is also credited as producer of the series The Boys.
For her part, Rose Byrne is a regular on the big screen, particularly known for her roles in the schoolboy comedies Spy and My best friends. Prior to Platonic, the Aussie actress previously starred in an AppleTV+ series with Physical, a drama set in the world of 80s aerobics clubs.
