As we talked regarding how bad we felt for the girls who didn’t get picked, we wondered what it would be like to write a win-win story.. I imagine it would be difficult, but it might also be fun. I started writing this series because I wanted to explore that concept through manga.».

Hiroyuki began publishing the manga through the magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in March 2020 and finished it in May 2023. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios Tezuka Productionsunder the direction of Satoshi Kuwahara and scripts written by Keiichirou Oochiwhich aired during the season of Summer-2021 (July-September). A second season is in production.

After harboring unrequited love for several years, Naoya Mukai finally gets a date with his childhood friend, Saki Saki. However, just as he tries to commit to this relationship, he receives an abrupt confession from Nagisa Minase. At first, Naoya tries to reject her but is soon overwhelmed by his feelings of not wanting to hurt her. Trying to avoid betraying his girlfriend’s trust in him, Naoya thinks of a “solution” to make them both happy: dating them both. Saki naturally rejects the idea, but through Naoya and Nagisa’s persistence, she ends up agreeing. With this, a three-way romance begins between Naoya, his girlfriend, and his other girlfriend, who already have a relationship that deviates from the social norm to begin with.
