After being the victim of a cyberattack, the ABB engineering group announced on Tuesday that all its main services, systems and factories were back to normal. “The incident has been successfully brought under control,” the Zurich group said on Tuesday.
The electrical engineering conglomerate ABB also notes that it has informed certain judicial and data protection authorities.
“The company continues work to restore all remaining affected services and systems and continues to improve its IT security,” the statement said.
ABB found that a third party was able to access some of the group’s systems through a rangociel. This malware takes data from the attacked computer system hostage.
The company further stresses that the investigation is still in its infancy and that it continues to analyze the exact extent of the cyberattack.
According to online portal ‘Bleeping Computer’, ABB was hit by a ransomware attack from Russian hacker group ‘Black Basta’ on May 7th.
