Gujarat Titans won the toss in the first qualifier match of IPL 2023. Titans skipper Hardik Pandya sent the opponents to bat in the match at Chennai Super Kings’ home ground.
Immediately following winning the toss, without waiting for any questions, Pandya said that they are choosing to bowl. Pandya announced his decision before Ravi Shastri, who was with him during the toss, might say anything.
Pandya said that there was a chance of snow and that is why they chose to bowl.
Asked regarding the team’s journey to the playoffs, Pandya said that they have been able to adapt to every pitch and that is why they have been able to perform well away from home stadiums.
The Titans have entered the playoffs with one change from the last game. Yash Dayal has been replaced by Darshan Aparpande in the squad.
Dhoni also said that if he had won the toss, he would have chosen to bowl.
‘If we win the toss, we also wanted to choose bowling. Gujarat Titans is a very good team. They have been able to chase and win many matches in the tournament. So the plan was to send them to bat first,” Dhoni said.
The team that wins the match in Chepok will directly enter the finals. The losing team will get another chance to enter the finals.
The losers will face the winner of the Mumbai – Lucknow eliminator match and the winners will enter the finals.
