A Apple announced this Tuesday (23) a multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom, an American company that operates in the technology and manufacturing segment, for the development of new components related to radio frequency of the fifth generation of mobile networks (5G) — including FBAR filters — and high-end wireless connectivity parts.
According to the Cupertino giant, the FBAR filters will be produced in different regions of the United States, including Broadcom’s manufacturing unit in Fort Collins, Colorado (USA). “We are excited to make commitments that harness the ingenuity, creativity and innovative spirit of American manufacturing,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
This new partnership demonstrates the company’s efforts to expand and improve the quality of 5G. In its statement, Apple reinforces that this investment is part of the commitment plan announced in 2021, which provides for the investment of US$ 430 billion in the US economy over a period of 5 years, promoting the development of the country.
Apple began investing in the 5G segment in 2020 when the feature was introduced on iPhones. “5G technology is shaping the future of the next generation of consumer electronics – and Apple is spending tens of billions of dollars to develop this field in the US,” the company said in its announcement.
