Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their IPL 2023 journey with an eight-wicket defeat once morest Mumbai Indians on Sunday. The 2016 champions have managed just four wins from 14 matches this season. Despite having the likes of Aiden Markram, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Phillips and many other top players, Hyderabad ended the campaign at the bottom of the points table.
One player who turned out to be a huge disappointment this year was pacer Umran Malik. The Jammu and Kashmir speedster emerged as a superstar in 2022 but has been a stark contrast this year. During the match once morest MI, Umran returned wicketless conceding 41 runs in his three overs. Here’s what Sehwag says regarding his poor performance.
“Umran Malik’s problem is that he doesn’t bowl length very often. He might not find his rhythm this season. He may have worked a lot with Dale Steyn, but he is yet to realize his mistakes. “After working with Steyn for so long and studying under him, he is making the same mistakes he did last year,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
Umran played 14 matches in IPL 2022 and took 22 wickets. However, he might play only eight matches in 2023, where he might take only five wickets. Earlier, when asked regarding Umran, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan had said that Umran was not handled well by the franchise.
