Increasingly popular with Viennese – Court confirms horses’ tolerance to heat – Chytracek: “Nothing stands in the way of a good season”

Vienna (OTS) Supposedly nice weather and more and more tourists in Vienna. The high season begins for the Viennese Fiaker – an industry with a 330-year tradition. The Viennese carriages are in great demand – and not just from tourists. “More and more Viennese want to experience their hometown from a new perspective. With a horse-drawn carriage ride along the magnificent buildings in the first district, you can experience a journey back in time,” says Ursula Chytracek, spokeswoman for the Fiacre at the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.

Certainly also on warm summer days
“Temperatures that make us sweat leave the horses completely unimpressed,” says Chytracek. In order to take care of the animals in the best possible way, the Viennese fiakers rely on a variety of measures. Each pitch is equipped with food and water and is in the shade during the warmest part of the day. “On the one hand for drinking, on the other hand we also hose the horses down once more and once more to cool them down. From an air temperature of 30 degrees, the official veterinarians of MA60 and a private veterinarian are on the move. They constantly check the health of our horses. So far, always without complaints,” says Chytracek

Court confirms that the Fiaker horses are in perfect condition
This was recently confirmed by a court. The Viennese Fiaker entrepreneur Paul defended himself once morest recurring allegations that the horses would suffer from the heat and therefore collapse. “The verdict confirms what we and experts have been preaching for years: horses tolerate warm temperatures much better than we humans,” says Johann Paul.

The industry hopes that this will finally bring calm to the tiresome heat debate. “It is in our own interest that the horses are doing well. Accordingly, we also take good care of them. We really hope that the emotionally charged discussion with irrelevant arguments will now come to an end and that we will head towards a good season,” said Chytracek.
