POCO X5 has the proposal to deliver a good experience at a fair price. In turn, the Galaxy M23 does not change much in terms of its rival, in the quest to be a very affordable option in the category.
Among Xiaomi and Samsung intermediaries, consumers are more likely to be satisfied with which of these smartphones? That’s what TudoCelular tells you now, in this Comparative.

POCO X5
We started with design with two very different proposals around here. The POCO stands out for its giant black block on the back, to house the cameras and the brand’s logo. Galaxy, on the other hand, prefers to use a “spine” of the same color as the lid to contain the lenses.
Both are made entirely of plastic, but use different artifices to give them a more premium look. On the Chinese side, the bet was on a matte finish. On the Korean side, metallic paint is present to do that job.
Samsung Galaxy M23
The two may even have the same biometric solution integrated into the power button, but the X5 delivers some more advantages than its competitor. It features a hole-punch notch, more modern than the M23’s teardrop shape; it also has IP53 certification once morest dust and splashes; not to mention the duo’s thinnest and lightest body.
Storage expansion is present on both, only the Samsung model has a dedicated microSD card slot. They even provide fifth-generation Wi-Fi and NFC technology for contactless payments. Xiaomi’s Bluetooth 5.1 is more modern than the rival’s version 5.0.
With more benefits on the Chinese side, it is POCO that opens the scoring.

Bodies
POCO comes equipped with a 6.67-inch screen, slightly larger than the Galaxy’s 6.6-inch. But the Chinese still has the best frontal use, in addition to its panel being of the AMOLED type, to deliver more brightness and a better viewing angle than the Korean’s LCD display.
Both provide Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, which makes navigating the system smoother. Xiaomi even inserted some differentials here, such as the touch sensor that responds to 240 Hz, and the presence of Gorilla Glass 3, to protect once morest scratches.
This is an easy spot for the X5.

As
Both POCO and Galaxy skimp on audio and have only one mono speaker. This means that the user’s immersive experience is compromised, due to the lack of a superior system.
Anyway, their quality doesn’t stand out here either, since both don’t reach the ideal balance between bass, mids and highs. At least, the X5 sends out a more powerful sound than the M23.
None of them contain a headset accompanying the device in the package, but the standard connector is still present in them.
In other words, Xiaomi’s greater power gives it the point.

System
These devices come out of the box with Android 12 pre-installed. Although the POCO brand models do not have a public commitment to system updates, her cell phone should not arrive with the same amount of major updates promised by Samsung.
The mobile network part should not be a problem for the duo, as fast internet is guaranteed with 5G support. Fluidity pleases them, even more so with the high rate of their panel.
Moving on to the features, the X5 delivers information with the display blocked by the Always-on Display, in addition to effects on the edges when there is a new notification. On the other hand, the Galaxy has the famous Edge Screen shortcuts and RAM Plus. These two can even configure to quickly open the camera by double pressing the power button.
The M23 takes the point for its superior service life.

Performance
The POCO X5 is powered by the Snapdragon 695 platform, once morest the Snapdragon 750G present in the Galaxy M23. Which one offers the faster performance of the duo? The Chinese model was the fastest in our tests, with an advantage of around five seconds over the Korean.
In benchmarks, the scenario is more balanced. We have pretty much the same scores on both, whether on Geekbench or AnTuTu. As for games, Xiaomi has a greater facility to run the most complex games well, without having to disable the extras.
The performance point goes to the X5.

Battery
On both sides, we see a 5,000 mAh battery here. Does the same capacity mean having the same autonomy? It’s not like that. Our standardized tests indicated more than 31 hours of duration for the POCO, that is, approximately three hours above the 28 hours recorded by the Galaxy.
When we go to loading, the scenery doesn’t change. The X5’s 33W adapter allows you to reach 100% in 1 hour and 15 minutes, faster than the M23’s almost 2 hours with its 15W accessory.
This is another easy point for Chinese.

These cell phones have a triple set of rear cameras. POCO’s main 48 MP has excessive noise issues, even in photos taken during the day. The situation does not occur with the 50 MP of the Galaxy, which hits the colors, contrast and sharpness. In dark places, the Korean also achieves a more efficient night mode once morest noise.
Their ultrawide has a big drop in the level of detail, as it is a simpler sensor. The macro present in both suffers from the low resolution and the lack of autofocus. At least, the software blur does a good job overall.
For superior quality, we give the M23 a point.

Photos taken with the POCO X5
The Korean’s camcorder is the only one that supports 4K video at 30 fps. The Chinese one is limited to Full HD. The Galaxy presents the best quality both in the recordings themselves and in the audio capture. In addition, it offers electronic stabilization, to handle the shakes better than the POCO, not to mention Samsung’s more agile focus.
Thus, the M23 scores one more point.

Their front camera takes good selfies during the day, with images that hit the sharpness and colors. At night, noises are more present and depend on a good light source. The only problem with POCO is the lack of a more decent HDR, which ends up leaving the background blown out. Footage from the front of both is no more than Full HD resolution.
The M23 scores once more.

These smartphones were officially launched in Brazil. The POCO X5 landed in the country at a suggested price of R$ 2,900, much more expensive than the R$ 2,000 initial value of the Galaxy M23. In national retail at the moment, the scenario is quite different. Xiaomi’s model can be found for R$ 1,400, while Samsung’s still appears around the same cost as its arrival.
That is, the Chinese closes the duel with the last point.

Done
In the duel between the two intermediaries, the POCO X5 showed that its set is more complete than the competitor. It has from the most resistant design, to the battery with greater autonomy and shorter recharge time, passing through the higher quality screen, the most powerful sound and the fastest performance
On the side of the Galaxy M23, there are two factors of greater appeal to the consumer. One of them is in the higher amount of updates for your system. The other is regarding its cameras, which do better in rear photos, videos and selfies.
In any case, in addition to having the most positive points, Xiaomi still delivers the best value for money. In other words, you’ll get more perks without hurting your pocket so much.
