Neuquén’s oil production slowed its growth due to bottlenecks

After 10 months of sustained growth and new records, Neuquén oil production ended its positive streak due to transport restrictions of hydrocarbons. Despite this, the Vaca Muerta deposits kept extractions stable and consolidated a year-on-year increase of 24%.

The last time oil production had not shown a month-on-month jump was June of last year. and the reasons were similar. Due to obstacles in the transportation of hydrocarbons -which were resolved the following month- the companies had to restrict their production volumes.

The expectation for May (data that will be known at the end of June) is that production will return to the growth path due to the reopening of the Trasandino Pipeline (Otasa). This pipe will not only increase exports, but will also decompress the networks of Oleoductos del Valle (Oldelval). It is a line that will give oxygen to companies for the second half of the year.

328.082
barrels of oil per day were the extractions of Neuquén during April.

During the fourth month of the year, The production of the head province of the shale developments was 328,082 barrels of oil per day. Of that total, more than one 91% It is made up of unconventional crude oil.

The brand is derived from official data from the National Energy Secretariat and the Neuquén Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. This is an interannual jump of 24.01% and a fall of 1.27% compared to March, which is equivalent to regarding 4,214 fewer per day.

24,01%
is the year-on-year increase in oil production in the province.

Neuquén’s objective is to end the year with a daily production of 400,000 barrels of oil per day. With this roadmap in mind, the province must add regarding 72,000 barrels to its daily extractions, between May and December.

According to what was reported by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the drop is mainly due to the drop in production in the Bajada del Palo Oeste, La Amarga Chica, Sierras Blancas and Mata Mora Oeste areas. It was indicated that fewer wells were connected in April, a situation that can occur in a particular month.

Vaca Muerta increased gas production

In the natural gas segment there was also good news. During the past month, the production of the deposits of the entire province reached 83.13 million cubic meters per day.

This is an increase of 6.14% compared to April last year and a slight increase (1.79%) regarding March this year. Of the total pumped last month, more than 82% came from unconventional deposits.

The extractions of April mark two things: on the one handthe increase in yields that responds to the greater demand in the run-up to winter. And, on the other hand, that the segment is in a better position than last year and with the wells ready to fill the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline.
