Two days ago, thousands of Libyans in Sirte searched for a child who disappeared in mysterious circumstances following she was playing on the beach, only to be surprised today, Sunday, by her death.

The security and civil authorities in the country launched massive campaigns to find the daughter of a year and a half, “Ayaat Abdel Rahman,” who went missing while she was on a picnic with her parents on one of the beaches of Sirte, in an incident that occupied Libyan public opinion.

While many Libyans used their private cars to help search for them in the areas adjacent to the sea, where they disappeared on Friday night.

Others rushed to social media, launching massive campaigns to demand that all responsible authorities find her.

Rescue teams, fishermen and divers also raced to search for her over the past two days on all beaches, hoping to find her alive, especially following many sympathized with her family, who lost another 5-year-old girl last year due to a scorpion sting.

However, the winds did not bring what the Libyan ships desired, as the body of the little girl was recovered today from the bottom of the sea.

Meanwhile, the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, offered his condolences to her family in a tweet on Twitter. Several Libyan personalities, activists, and influencers also expressed their grief, solidarity, and sympathy with the “Ayat” family.
