The State Criminal Police Office is investigating the 73-year-old on suspicion of double attempted murder: around 1 p.m. the man is said to have tried to kill his 48-year-old daughter and son-in-law of the same age following a year-long dispute over the ownership and living conditions of the apartment building.
According to the current status of the investigation, the crime may have happened as follows: The 48-year-old was leaning once morest the balcony railing on a mezzanine floor when the accused threw a two-kilogram scale on his head from the balcony on the next floor up. He then ran down to the son-in-law and daughter and attacked and injured them with two knives. With the help of a neighbor, the two managed to escape over the fence to another neighbor’s property, where they holed up until the police arrived.

They were taken to a Linz hospital with serious injuries. The 73-year-old was arrested at home. Because he did not put down the knife he was holding following repeated requests, the intervening police officers had to use a taser.
According to a police spokesman, the suspect was also taken to the hospital, he may have tried to take his own life. It was not yet clear when the first surveys would take place.
