Stigmata, weeping statues, apparitions of the Virgin Mary… Even today, people claim to have mystical experiences linked to the Catholic faith. The Vatican has created an observatory to detect charlatans.
On YouTube, there is a plethora of so-called visionaries. Some criticize the pope, claim to have seen Johnny Hallyday in hell or ask the faithful for money. The Vatican therefore created in April the Observatory of Mystical Apparitions and Phenomena to see more clearly in this spiritual jungle.

Bernadette of Lourdes also suspected
This mistrust is not new: far from rejoicing in it, the Catholic Church has always looked with suspicion at people who claim to be messengers from Heaven. Even mystics now declared saints, like Bernadette of Lourdes or Padre Pio, were initially received coldly by their hierarchy.
