Austria’s FC Nationalrat second behind Finland
Vienna (PK) – Finland today secured the title at the 50th “International Parliamentary Football Championship” in Wiener Neustadt with a 4-0 win in the last game once morest Switzerland. Host Austria might be happy regarding the “Vice European Champion title” ahead of Switzerland and Germany.
The Austrian team around captain Andreas Hanger (VP) celebrated a 4-0 prestige win once morest Germany with coach Felix Magath in the last game. The top scorer of the tournament for Austria was Max Köllner (SP) from Burgenland with three goals.
“It’s nice to see how football connects players across all party lines,” said National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka. “In addition to the sporting competition, this tournament is characterized above all by the fact that the exchange between the parliamentarians is cultivated and not neglected even in politically challenging times. I congratulate Finland on winning the tournament.” The 51st tournament will take place in Switzerland next year.
