A second body was found floating in the Hudson River (NYC) this morning and it is being investigated whether it is the 11-year-old boy Alfa Barrie, who has been missing for eight days.

The body of his friend Garrett Warren, 13, had been found Thursday in the Harlem River. Both boys were last seen together at a food business near 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem on May 12, he recalled. Pix11.

This is developing news.

At around 10:15 am Thursday authorities alerted the recovery of a body found in the Harlem River, under the Madison Avenue Bridge, which Garrett’s family later identified as his.

It remains to determine the cause and time of his death. Police had been searching that area near 138th Street since Tuesday. After the discovery of the body officers on foot and in scuba gear continued to search the area for Barrie and any belongings or leads on both boys..

NYPD said its detectives had been “working around the clock” for nearly a week to find the children and asking the public for help.

Garrett had last been seen with Barrie at a fish market at 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem on Friday night, witnesses said. A worker at “Ana’s Fish Market” said that he saw the children in the store, where they made some purchases, as on other occasions.

According to her sister, Barrie went to school on Friday and left shortly following noon because the schedule that day was part shift. He was supposed to meet his 14-year-old sister, who attends the same school, and walk home together, but she never showed up. That was the first indication that something was wrong.

The children did not attend the same school, but they became friends. Their families did not know that they knew each other.

Barrie is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Anyone with information should call to 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through the page crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

In a similar case, in the spring of 2020, two 13-year-old Hispanic boys who had been reported missing were found dead weeks apart following playing together in the Hudson River in Upper Manhattan (NYC).
