The Prime Minister spoke to the media following unveiling the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The Prime Minister said that even today the world is afraid when the word ‘Hiroshima’ is heard. The reference was to the US nuclear attack during World War II that killed 140,000 people.
‘It is a great moment for me to know that the Bodhi tree that I presented to the Prime Minister of Japan has been planted here in Hiroshima, so that when people come here they can understand the importance of peace. “I pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi,” PM Modi said.
Siddaramaiah took office as the Chief Minister of Karnataka
