Bakeries are one of the favorite places of everyone, especially children. There are various kinds of sweets, candies and many other mouth-watering food items here. Meanwhile, archaeologists exploring an ancient site in Armenia saw a different view. Something white in the brown mud. The research took place in the archaeological site of Metsamor, Armenia.
At first, the explorers thought that the incident was ash. But when they did more tests, the shocking secret was revealed in front of them. It is not ash, but wheat flour. It was 3000 years old wheat flour. The exploration was done by a team from Poland. Polish explorer Krzysztof Jakubiak says that wheat is rarely found in archaeological sites. But wheat powder kept in many sacks was found from Metsamor.
It was only following this that the explorers realized what a large structure they were exploring. 3000 years ago it was a huge bakery…an ancient bakery.Exploration started in 1965 in Metzmor. It continues today.
Researchers say that the building, which was originally a public center, may have been converted into a bakery later. Furnaces etc. were added here in abundance. The main activity here was making bread from wheat flour. Researchers also say that this bakery was destroyed in a fire later. Metsamor, the historical center of Armenia, is located 35 kilometers south of the Armenian capital, Yerevan. It was continuously inhabited from the 4th century BC to the 17th century AD.
