“KV Thomas appointed as special representative in Delhi with honorarium of 1 lakh per month”

Thiruvananthapuram – The Finance Department has instructed that KV Thomas, the special representative of Kerala in Delhi and former Union Minister, will be given an honorarium of one lakh rupees per month. The government appointed KV Thomas, who was expelled from the Congress, as a special representative with cabinet rank. The Cabinet will take a decision following discussing the proposal of the Finance Department.

KV Thomas was appointed as the special representative in Delhi in the cabinet meeting on January 18. KV Thomas had given a letter to the government demanding no salary and honorarium is enough. KV Thomas’s office is in Kerala House, Delhi. Salary includes basic pay, DA, HRA and other benefits.

Honorarium is the payment of a certain sum of money in return for services rendered. In case of re-appointment of retired officers from government service, the amount of pension deducted from the last drawn salary will be allowed as wages. If the honorarium is paid, KV Thomas will not be hindered from receiving MP pension.

KV Thomas broke away from the party when he participated in the CPM party congress seminar in Kannur in violation of the Congress ban. After participating in the LDF convention in the Thrikkakara by-election, he was expelled from the Congress. KV Thomas, who worked as a minister and MP in Delhi, was appointed as a special representative by the government in the hope that his friendships would be beneficial to the state. The government’s assessment is that he has done exemplary work to bring the Malayalees home from Sudan.

Former MP A. Sampath was appointed as Special Representative in Delhi during the first Pinarayi government. The monthly salary was Rs 92,423 including basic pay, DA and Delhi Allowance.
