Are you planning to do energy renovation work at your home? Not all regions are in the same boat, and in some of them finding a craftsman is particularly laborious.
In some regions of France, finding a Recognized craftsman who guarantees the environment (or RGE) is almost impossible. This is the case of Corsica, Brittany or the PACA region. To have energy renovation work carried out there, it is better to arm yourself with patience and tenacity. However, the stakes are high, both for households that own their main or secondary residence, and for rental investors.
Brittany, Corsica and PACA: but where are the RGE artisans?
In a recent study, Heero by EP, a player in the financing of energy renovation works, looked at the availability of craftsmen Recognized as guarantors of the environment. This label, more commonly abbreviated RGE, is a sine qua non condition for taking advantage of the
Eco-loan at zero rate
(or Eco-PTZ), which makes it possible to finance energy renovation work without having to pay interest, and the MaPrimeRenov’ scheme, which offers the possibility of receiving financial aid for certain works.
This study has shown that, in this area, not all French people are in the same boat. Three regions in particular have a particularly low number of RGE artisans: Corsica, Brittany and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. While the national average is 5% of building companies with the RGE label, the PACA region has only 1.3%, and even only 0.7% for the island of beauty.
Conversely, it is easier to find an EGR company in certain regions. This is the case in the Pays-de-Loire, with a proportion that climbs to 7.6% of the building sector, or in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté with 7.4%. Property owners located in these departments should therefore find it easier to find the right craftsman to carry out their energy renovation work.

Disparities that can be explained, but which remain problematic
During the realization of this study, the company Heero by EP also calculated an Index of artisanal tension (ITA), which is intended to reflect the difficulty of finding an RGE artisan in each region. While the national average is 54 out of 100, those of the three aforementioned regions, Corsica, the PACA region and Brittany explode (respectively 70, 69 and 60). The Île-de-France region is not spared either. While its ITA is only 48 out of 100, large differences between the intramural capital and the surrounding departments are felt. Indeed, the Paris ITA is 77 out of 100.
So how can such discrepancies be explained? Several factors work together once morest certain regions. Thus, the PACA region and Corsica have a high concentration of population, associated with a large number of secondary residences. However, second homes are sometimes aging and high energy consumers, which requires their renovation. Romain Villain, Managing Director of Heero, also adds: “And when the region is also mountainous like Corsica or part of the PACA region, there are also the problems of accessibility to construction sites”.
However, devices such as the Eco-PTZ and MaPrimeRenov’ are valuable assets to help individuals renovate their homes at a lower cost. Improving the energy performance of houses and apartments is particularly topical, in particular to limit household energy consumption and expenditure. For landlords, it is even sometimes imperative to have such work carried out in order to continue to offer their accommodation for rent, depending on their DPE classification.
