A 73-year-old man killed himself by accidentally falling from a pontoon on Thursday followingnoon in Ostend, said the Bruges section of the West Flanders prosecutor’s office.
The facts occurred on a pontoon located along the Winston Churchill quay in the center of the seaside resort. The septuagenarian, originally from Ostend, was walking towards a boat when he fell into the water, shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday. Emergency services attended but the boater succumbed to his injuries.
According to the first findings, this is a regrettable accident. However, an investigation has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of the fatal fall.
