Dominican right-hander Luis Severino declared himself MLB-ready after throwing 58 pitches (39 of which were strikes) in 3/1 for Double-A Somerset on Tuesday.
Severino allowed two runs and six hits in that outing. His season debut with the Yankees is scheduled for Sunday against the Reds in Cincinnati.
“They gave him some hits, but I think his first start in Scranton last time was very good, very in tune,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “All the material was there. I was between 95 and 98 [mph] with his slider, over. He looked healthy. I think it’s ready.”
