Thiruvananthapuram – BJP Mahila Morcha National Secretary Padmaja S. Menon has been sacked by the leadership for violating the whip given to abstain from the motion of no confidence brought by the UDF to the Kochi Corporation Education Standing Committee. BJP state president K. Surendran explained the information regarding the expulsion of Padmaja in the state committee meeting held yesterday. The leadership assessed that there was a serious breach of discipline on the part of Padmaja.
The understanding of the leadership was that Padmaja Corporation, which was campaigning in Karnataka, would not attend the meeting. After reaching the meeting, the whip was given but they did not take it, the leadership says. After violating the whip, the BJP leadership demanded that Padmaja, who was engaged in election activities in Karnataka, be removed from her activities there. The party handed over the letter containing the whip to the collector. Being the national leader, the BJP district leadership might not take action, so the information was conveyed to the central leadership.
The Congress leadership had clarified that Padmaja supported the UDF’s no-confidence motion without their knowledge. Padmaja was appointed as Mahila Morcha National Secretary in 2021. He had contested as a BJP candidate from Ernakulam constituency in the 2021 assembly elections. Padmaja won from Ernakulam South Ward (62). Padmaja responded that she should ask the BJP leadership regarding the expulsion.
