“Health Reform Debate Postponed: Latest Updates and Analysis from the House of Representatives Seventh Committee”

The Seventh Committee of the House of Representatives announced the postponement of the health reform debate which was scheduled for the morning of this Wednesday, May 17. The reasons would be the lack of a quorum to continue discussing the project, and the labor reform negotiations.

The session for their third discussion was scheduled for 8:00 in the morningbut around 11:00 am it was postponed and then, finally, it was lifted due to the filing of the labor reform, which was scheduled for 11:00 am this Wednesday.

The outlook for one of the most important reforms for the government of Gustavo Petro expands in the middle of an approval of 24 articles. First, a block of 16 articles without propositions was approved: 43, 44, 69, 88, 97, 101, 102, 104, 108, 113, 119, 120, 123, 126, 127, 134. And then, a second of others five articles: 89, 96, 112, 115, 130. Thus, there are already 24 of 139 approved articles.

On the points already approved, in the first block they passed articles such as 43, on the provision of employment for the director of health institutions; 44 that talks regarding the approval and evaluation of the Management Plan of the State Health institutions; and 69, of Complementary Social Health services, such as patient transport.

The summons of the Seventh Commission is expected to be published between the followingnoon of May 17 and the morning of Thursday, May 18, as explained by the Chamber.
