Manchester United Academy defender Alvaro Fernandez was keen to thank fans at Preston North End, following his “wonderful season” spent on loan there…

The left side trained at the Mancunian training center has spent his entire season on loan at Preston North End.

For information, during this period, Fernandez appeared 42 times for the Lilywhites, even providing six assists for the team. There, he also won Preston North End’s Young Player of the Year award, just a year following being awarded Manchester United’s U21 of the Year award.

“It was an awesome season for me with lots of awesome people around me”the 20-year-old told reporters at the Preston North End club.

“I really enjoyed this season a lot and I improved a lot. I just want to say thank you for everything and everyone.”

“I think I played 42 games. I never thought such a thing would happen to me”he continued.

“To all the staff, to all my teammates, I want to say a massive thank you. The first loan is never easy but you made everything perfect for me and my family and you helped me so much to develop as a player.

In his first season on loan, Fernandez appeared 42 times in all competitions with Preston North End (who finished 12th in the Championship).

“To all Preston fans: I will never forget all the support you have given me at Deepdale and all around the country. To receive your votes for Young Player of the Year means so much to me. I will never forget the bond we created. It was a real honor to wear this shirt and represent this special club.”

After such a season, do you think Alvaro Fernandez will be able to join Erik ten Hag’s squad next season?
