Free sold 172,000 mobile plans in the first quarter of 2023. Far ahead of the competition.
Never having increased the price of its two historic mobile plans and promising not to change anything until 2027, a winning strategy for Free. During the presentation of its results for the first quarter, the operator unveiled this May 17 very solid results in the 1st quarter despite inflationary pressures.
Faced with Orange and its 3,000 new subscribers or even Bouygues Telecom and its 27,000 sales in the segment, Free Mobile did not have to worry regarding a wave of cancellations, in contrast to its two rivals, which increased their rates during the first 3 months of the year.
Free thus recorded 172,000 new net mobile subscribers, including 207,000 4G/5G subscribers. “These performances confirm the power of the Free brand, whose uniqueness, in terms of value for money, has been further strengthened in recent months following price changes posted by our competitors”welcomed the operator who lost 34,000 subscribers to the €2 package at the same time.
Mobile ARPU billed to subscribers is up 3.2% in the space of one year, to €11.8. The operator continues to move upmarket. Overall, Free’s turnover climbed 7.6% to 1.4 billion euros. EBITDAal increased by 0.9% while Operating Free Cash Flow fell by 65.8%.
