Beware of the proliferation of tiger mosquitoes in the Allier
Since last year, the department of Allier has been confronted with the tiger mosquito. 5 Bourbon towns were officially colonized in 2022: Abrest, Charmeil, Creuzier-le-Neuf, Creuzier-le-Vieux and Le Vernet.
To avoid seeing these tiger mosquitoes proliferating throughout the department, which can bring serious illnesses, 16 municipalities have set up traps to monitor the progress of this insect.
Tiger mosquitoes can transmit dengue, but also Zika and chikungunya. For the moment, no case has been detected in the department of Allier.
The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional health agency has implemented enhanced surveillance since May 1 and until November 30.
The ARS gives several tips to limit the presence of these mosquitoes: remember to store, empty, cover all containers in which water accumulates. If you are bitten by a tiger mosquito, it is that it was born in your garden or near your home because it lives within a perimeter of 150m around the place of laying.
