“Ikea’s €1.28 Billion Investment Plan for France: New Stores, Lower Prices, and Sustainable Development Efforts”

This weekend, the leaders of the Ikea group presented their new investment plan for the years to come. In France alone, we are talking regarding 1.28 billion euros out of four, to renovate existing stores, but also to build new ones, as indicated by our colleagues from Parisian.

In an interview, the CEO of Ikea France, Johan Laurell presented several objectives, in particular that of “Making our offer even more accessible to the greatest number”, while “accelerating” the efforts of sustainable development. “Of this sum announced, 377 million from a previous envelope not having been consumed, it is in the end an additional 906 million euros which will be injected by 2026, in order to win new customers.”, we learn once more.

The new IKEA campaign that shocks its customers

All this comes following a year 2022 which was complicated for Ikea, which closed stores in Russia, and which faced – like everyone else – inflation. All you have to do is walk around the shelves of Belgian and European stores to notice a sharp rise in prices for all products. If we go back a little further, the health crisis has caused a whole series of delays and shortages on the production line. It is therefore time for a revival for the Swedes, who are also aiming for a breakthrough on the American market and 2 billion in investments across the Atlantic.

Even more interesting for consumers, Ikea promises lower prices thanks to the opening in France of new logistics centers in Toulouse in the Paris region. It remains to be seen what this will give concretely in the years to come, when the chain’s website should see progress to allow it to combine online and in-store purchases.

But what regarding Belgium? The brand is already well established there and no such ambitious plan is underway, the channel’s spokesperson tells us. Belgians will therefore be able to cross the border to visit stores in the north of France to compare prices.
