At the beginning of the year the cancellation of several EA projects was known; among these was Battlefield Mobile. On the occasion, not many details were known, but now some of the details that led to its cancellation are known.n, among which is the poor reception that Battlefield 2042 had.

The information comes from Alex Seropian, founder of Industrial Toys, the study that was in charge of bringing the popular franchise to mobile devices and who, in a recent interview, stated that “some things have happened over the course of the last year. Battlefield 2042 came out and the community reaction was not good. That caused a lot of introspection.”

As detailed in conversation with Mobilegamer.bizthis was not the only reason, sincee “Apple also changed the IDFA rules and, in short, it made user acquisition much more expensive. So organic growth eroded with the release of 2042, and paid distribution got quite a bit more expensive because of IDFA rules,” adding that “And then Apex came out and I don’t know if EA has talked regarding why they canceled it, if it was for economy or whatever, but without me saying you might fill in the blanks I guess.”

Battlefield Mobile was in a testing phase at the time of its cancellation, being available only in some countries and as Alex mentions, it was going well, but EA did not trust the project.

It is worth mentioning that Industrial Toys closed its doors following the cancellation of the project.
