After starting to test changes to the app’s interface to macOSamong other minor changes, the WhatsApp is now focused on improving the group calls of that version.
Until now, beta users of WhatsApp for macOS were unable to initiate a group call because the option was unavailable, despite the button to place a call being displayed. Now, with the latest trial version update, the messenger is releasing this functionality for some people, according to WABetaInfo.
In addition to the ability to initiate calls, users will be able to create a new call with multiple people who are not in the same group — as already available on iOS. To do so, it will be necessary to open the Calls tab and, when creating a new call, select the participants.
As with iOS, you can select up to 7 people for now, but a maximum of 32 contacts will be able to join group audio calls later — this limit may be different for group video calls, however.
