Ana De Armas has joined the cast of Ron Howard’s survival thriller ‘Origin of Species’. The 35-year-old actress, who previously starred as Paloma in the James Bond film ‘No Time to Die’, is set to star in the upcoming film alongside Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Bruhl, according to Deadline.
The film is billed as a “narrative of murder and survival, unfolding around an eclectic group of characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They are all searching for the answer to this ever pressing question that torments us all. : what is the meaning of life”.
“Origin of Species” is set to begin filming later this year in Queensland, Australia. The screenplay is written by Noah Pink, who previously wrote the screenplay for “Tetris” for Apple TV.
Last year, Ana starred as Marilyn Monroe in the acclaimed drama film “Blonde.”
The actress went on to say that she finds it easy to identify with the Hollywood icon.
Ana told Vanity Fair magazine: “There were a lot of things I might relate to. If you put aside Marilyn Monroe the movie star, she’s just an actress trying to navigate life and this system, which is so hard for anyone to navigate. On top of that you add this perspective from Andrew Dominik, who was to see this through his trauma. I really thought that would do justice to a more human being. dimensional, because I wouldn’t want to be known for just one thing. I’m more than just a magazine cover actress.”
Ana also suggested that today’s movie stars don’t compare themselves to people like Marilyn.
She explained, “I feel like new generations don’t have that notion, because of social media. There’s so much information out there and too much sharing. The concept of a movie star is someone inaccessible that you only see on screen. That mystery is gone.”
