The energy distributor Edersa reported on the detection of irregularities and thefts that have occurred so far in 2023 in Río Negro. She assured thate three cities are those that represent 80% of the “abnormalities”.
As they explained, an analysis was carried out from January to April and they compared the number of kilowatts stolen with the consumption of a city. “There are regarding 8,000,000 kilowatts stolen, something like the consumption of a town like Allen for a whole month”, they assured.
In their report, they described that there are two phenomena that were repeated the most, robberies and vandalization of electrical installations; and situations of theft or fraud of the service.
The commercial manager of the distributor, Fernando Salice explained that in the second case, they are “individual criminal actsof smaller magnitude but that translate into potential electrical risks.
“In the first case, criminals are looking for copper to sell it and make a profit. In a second, users manipulate facilities to defraud the company and not pay what corresponds, “said Salice.
And he added: “In both situations, they put other neighbors at risk, harm the quality of service in the area where the crimes occur and generate a scenario of general harm”.
They estimated that the theft equivalent to 8,000,000 kilowatts is similar to the consumption of a town like Allen in March, but also equivalent to 40,000 Río Negro homes in 30 days.
Which cities registered almost 80% of crimes
They reported that the number of frauds registered in this period, they are equivalent to half detected during 2022. During these four months, 36,595 inspections were carried out on housing pillars, shops and industries, in around ten cities of the province. “In addition to finding theft and fraud, this plan allows us to normalize pillars and reduce risks, because we are solving situations of this nature all the time,” Salice said.
And he listed the cities in which most of the irregularities were registered. «To date there are three localities where almost 80% of the abnormalities: Cinco Saltos, Cipolletti and General Roca».
«The case of Cinco Saltos is paradigmatic because there they found between January and April regarding 35% of irregularities. In Cipolletti, for its part, the distributor estimates that thefts equivalent to more than 2.3 million kilowatts, which in comparison means regarding 8 days of consumption in total from that location«, they needed.
While in the case of General Roca, the manager of the distributor estimated that the figure “reached 2 million kilowatts that the offending users consumed but did not pay, also harming their neighbors”.
