O WhatsApp announced today a new feature: the conversation protectionwhich basically consists of a pasta to which you can transfer conversations and which can only be accessed with the password of the device or with your Biometry. It is worth remembering that it had already been tested for some time in the beta version of the messenger.
With the novelty, it is possible to hide chats from the messenger’s “Conversations” screen and access them in the “Protected conversations” option, above the archived ones. It is worth remembering that it is still possible to block the app as a whole with a password/biometrics; the novelty is the possibility of doing it in specific conversations.
In this way, you can add another layer of protection to the application, something especially useful if other people also have access to your device, as portrayed in the humorous video promoting the feature. Additionally, notifications regarding protected conversations hide the content and sender of messages.

To protect a conversation, simply tap on a conversation’s options and select Protection. As with archived chats, just slide down the “Conversations” menu to find protected conversations, select this option and validate with the password/biometrics (via Touch ID or Face ID, in the case of the iPhone).
WhatsApp also revealed that the new feature will gain some additions in the future, although it did not give as many details. One of them is the possibility of creating a personalized password — different from the cell phone — , in addition to protecting chats on additional devices.
