“Makkah Entry Restrictions during Hajj: Stay Informed with Permit Guidelines and Updates”

Makkah: Expatriates cannot enter Makkah without permission as part of Hajj preparations. But those coming for Umrah and work can enter Makkah by showing the permit at the check post. The restriction will continue till the end of Hajj.

From this day the restriction to Mecca came into effect. Only those who have obtained a special permit to enter Makkah for the purpose of work, those with Iqama issued by Makkah Jawazat, those who have obtained permits for Umrah, and those who have obtained Hajj permits will be allowed to enter Makkah through the check posts.

Those who do not will be turned away from the check posts. Jawaharlal Nehru Directorate accepts applications for special permits to enter Makkah online and issues the permits.

Domestic workers of Saudi families, non-Saudi family members, employees of institutions headquartered in Makkah, and those who have been granted a permit to work in Makkah during Hajj can enter Makkah. Every year from the 25th of Shawwal to the 10th of Dhul Hajj, entry to Makkah is restricted by the relevant departments.
