Unlike most of his European counterparts, the King of the Belgians does not give interviews to the press. It is the tradition with us. Even on special occasions like his (soon to be) ten years of reign. For what ? Here’s what we hear behind the scenes.

Por his ten years of reign at the end of April this year, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands delivers himself in an interview-podcast in ten episodes. And for his 50th birthday in April 2017, he had already granted a 70-minute interview on television, confiding in particular: “I had not yet accepted (during my youth, editor’s note), internalized that I should succeed my mother. »

For his 75th birthday, in April 2021, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden spoke in a podcast broadcast of his royal mission, the covid pandemic or his faith in the future. And in December 2014, he gave himself up with his wife Sivia to several French media, with a view to their state visit to France.

In April 2006, Harald V of Norway and Queen Sonja received the newspaper “Le Temps” at the Palace before their state visit to Switzerland. The King is also used to end-of-year interviews.
