In recognition of the work of the mothers of Caroní, the Municipal Executive Committee of Acción Democrática (AD) prepared a free gynecology and obstetrics medical day that was held this Saturday, May 13, with the intention of providing assistance to women, one of the sectors of the population most affected by the humanitarian crisis in the country.
Through a press release, the general secretary of AD in Caroní, Aída González, explained that the idea is to be able to support women of different ages to undergo their gynecological check-ups and thus preserve their lives in the midst of the critical situation for which crosses public health in Venezuela.
He stressed that for the second consecutive year the municipal team of the party carries out these days in the 11 parishes of Caroní.
“In commemoration of Mother’s Day, this year we decided to prepare these days of gynecological check-ups in view of the fact that it is increasingly difficult for women in our municipality to attend a consultation,” added the councilor.
He explained that it is a complete gynecological check-up, which is why they are attending 10 women per day in these days that they will continue to carry out and that seek to attract those who need it most in the different parishes of the municipality.
González warned that there are more and more cases of women presenting advanced stages of diseases such as cancer of the cervix, breast, uterus or ovaries due to not being able to attend preventive and annual check-ups that allow them to take care of themselves.
“The number of women who are being affected by serious illnesses by not having ways to go to a doctor is unfortunate,” she said.
He recalled that the deterioration of the health system and the economic crisis leave the mothers of Caroní and the entire country helpless. Without the possibility of maintaining his health, given the cost of private consultations and the almost non-existent possibilities in the public sector.
The leader condemned the situation that is currently being experienced in hospital centers throughout Venezuela and that leaves mothers defenseless. “Hospitals are overcrowded with women who urgently require care and surgery.”
She reported that through the party’s municipal women’s secretariat they have a team of women who visit each of the sectors in all the parishes in order to raise awareness regarding the importance of having an annual gynecological check-up and prevention methods once morest diseases of the sexual transmission.
The councilor explained that in this way they seek to make the most vulnerable sectors aware of the importance of attending a consultation and thus preventing serious diseases such as cancer.
González argued that given the serious situation faced by women and adolescents due to neglect by the State, it is necessary to urgently develop plans and public policies on health, care, training and prevention.
