A police officer was seriously injured on Saturday during an arrest following a traffic check in the center of Kortrijk, said the West Flanders prosecutor’s office. A motorist who wanted to avoid the roadblock forced the passage, crashing into police vehicles and a facade.
The man was able to be subdued but remained aggressive. One policeman was seriously injured and another slightly.
The motorist will be presented to an investigating judge for intentional assault and battery on agents of public authority and armed rebellion.
