Prime Minister Alexander De Croo warned on Sunday of the risk of paralysis following next year’s elections. In his viewfinder, institutional discussions between the N-VA and the PS which, according to him, would once more block the country.
In several media, the president of the N-VA addressed the PS and expressed the wish for a “mini-federal cabinet” which would ensure the management of the country while the “confederal turn” was negotiated. An invitation quickly rejected by the socialists.
“Behind this new call for a major reform of the state, there is a strategy and an objective: once more to paralyze our country for 500 days and more. It’s the strategy of decay and immobility“, by Lance M. De Croo.”We are on the rise. This is not the time to push on the brake, but on the contrary this is where we shift into high gear“, he added. “The N-VA and the PS at the table? How many times haven’t they played that record? And now we’re taking it out. (…) We know the result: once more months and years of political stalemate, immobility and retreat and, each time, we need the Liberals to break this immobility.“
