“Georgia Man Arrested in Connection to Wife’s Murder: Latest Updates and Details”

ATLANTA, Ga. (NBC Atlanta) – A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of his wife, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported.

According to the agency, Nicolas James Kassotis faces charges of intentional homicide, tampering with evidence and mutilating parts of a body at the scene of his death.

He was arrested Friday in Pennsylvania, authorities added.

The body of his wife, Mindi Kassotis, was identified on May 11.

“The Kassotis were living in Savannah at the time of Mindi’s death,” the agency reported.

The GBI indicated that the remains of Mindi Kassotis were found by hunters in a woods near the Portal Hunting Club, on Jones Road, on December 2, 2022. The area is near the city of Riceboro and the border between Liberty and the McIntosh County, according to the GBI.

The GBI says they conducted multiple interviews, including with members of the woman’s family, and obtained DNA samples that were compared to those from the corpse, to confirm her identity.

The GBI indicated that agencies such as the offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Atlanta and Baltimore, the Marshals service and others, participated in the identification of the victim.

Kassotis is in the Lancaster County jail in Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to Georgia.
