The adage says it so well: you don’t change a winning recipe. On the other hand, we improve it. This is precisely what Peugeot wanted to do on the occasion of the mid-career restyling of the 2008, certainly a successful model. Indeed, it has become the best-seller in its category (B-segment SUV) in Europe, to the point of reaching the bar of 700,000 deliveries recorded since its launch in 2019!

Incidentally, we note that its 100% electric version, e-2008, participated in this success by totaling more than 75,000 registrations. The designers of the Lion brand have worked to magnify the look of the vehicle in continuity with the outgoing model. Thus, the front face evolves at the level of the grille which adopts a new horizontal pattern treated in a dark shade.

The look changes especially through the three new luminous claws, still vertical, but offset from the headlights to be directly integrated into the black and shiny inserts of the bumper.

At the rear, there is almost no change, except for the internal graphics of the lights which adopt three double horizontal slats superimposed, while the inscription “PEUGEOT” is written in a new, more noticeable typography. In short, how many developments have been carried out with finesse and subtlety.

More modern atmosphere
For the rest, neither the body panels nor the exterior dimensions change. Something new is still to be discovered in the passenger compartment where new atmospheres and seat fabrics are appearing, including Alcantara upholstery offered as an option (on GT).

The furniture remains almost the same with the famous i-Cockpit, understand: high instrumentation, a small steering wheel and piano-style shortcut keys under the air vents.

That said, we note a central screen which reaches a diagonal of 10 inches (7” previously) and integrates a new generation multimedia interface, called “i-connect Advanced” and including an intelligent voice assistant which is activated as if by magic saying the words: “Ok Peugeot”.

We also announce the availability of a new, more powerful induction charger. Mechanically, the future 2008 catalog will still have three engines, namely the 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with 100 hp and 130 hp, the 1.5 BlueHDi diesel engine with 130 hp (the only version currently offered in Morocco), as well as a 100% electric of the e-2008 version.

The latter, unlike thermal engines, has made significant progress with its 115 kW (156 hp) block and its 54 kWh battery, which can now travel up to 406 km compared to 345 for the current model. This is a great autonomy which should boost sales of the e-2008.

More generally and modernized in this way, this high-legged lion cub is offering itself some fine remains to extend its successful career, including in our regions where it should point the tip of its muzzle during the last quarter of 2023.

Freshness

Unlike the body panels that have remained as they are, it is above all the grille and the light signature that are changing following this restyling.
The 2008 gains more character at the level of the front face where one notices especially a reinterpretation of the famous vertical claws, very typical signature of the brand.

With more refined fabrics and a 10” touch screen as standard, the restyled 2008 offers a nice move upmarket.

At the rear, the graphics of the lights bring a beautiful finesse, while the PEUGEOT inscription changes font.
