President of the National Council emphasizes commitment once morest anti-Semitism on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel

Vienna (PK) On May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was proclaimed with the reading of the Declaration of Independence. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the state, President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka recalled the importance of the country.

“It is admirable what Israel has achieved in the past 75 years. It is the only well-developed democracy in the Middle East. The enormous global advances in technology, science, culture and education are also remarkable. But most importantly, Israel represents a homeland for all Jews, where they can find safety if they are being persecuted,” said the President of the National Council.

Austria is proud of the flourishing cooperation between the two countries, including bilateral parliamentary relations. “We will continue to do everything we can to protect Israel’s right to exist, and we will take a firm stand once morest any form of anti-Semitism,” said Sobotka.

On Monday, the President of the National Council will meet the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Austria, Mordechai Rodgold, to whom he will hand over a letter to President Yitzhak Herzog. Sobotka expresses his congratulations on this special anniversary and emphasizes the successful cooperation between Israel and Austria. (close) red
